Goodbye Movie Plot
Tara Bhalla (Rashmika Mandanna), who is celebrating her first professional achievement with friends, neglects to answer her father Harish’s (Amitabh Bachchan) calls. When she wakes up and learns that those calls were made to inform her of her mother Gayatri’s (Neena Gupta) untimely death, her world falls apart.
A daughter who has differences with the said father and now has to undergo the conditioned rituals so that her mother receives salvation, a father who is angry with everything around him because he lost his anger, a son who makes him realize it isn’t just him who has lost someone.
What happens next? How did she and her family deal with the tragedy? Forms the plot of the movie.
Goodbye Movie Review
The strength of the movie is emotions. The purpose of “Goodbye” is to help you understand life without a mother figure, and while this may be different for everyone, the bond and its absence are universal.
The direction of Vikas Bahl is admirable and relatable. A lot of the scenes and moments will be relatable to most of us. The screenplay by Vikas Bahl, is average. The writing losses strength in the second half after a strong first half. Witty dialogue also helps to save some scenes.
Full points for highlighting the contemporary issue, as when the father discovers his son having sex the night of his mother’s cremation, but the way it starts is a little strange.
After a long time, Amit Trivedi releases a heartwarming album. Jaikal Mahakal and Chann Pardesi are winners without a doubt, but there are a few more deserving candidates that you should hear about.
Goodbye Performance
Even at the age of 80, Amitabh Bachchan is still developing as an actor, and his megastar status only increases our respect for him.
Rashmika Mandanna gives a sincere performance, but it must be difficult for her because Bachchan occupies the majority of her screen time. The actor navigates the path with a lot of responsibility.
Everyone else, including Abhishekh Khan, Elli Avram, Ashish Vidyarthi, Pavail Gulati, and Sahil Mehta, plays their roles with conviction and belief. Even in a cameo, Sunil Grover is impressive.
Budget And Collection
The movie was made on budget of 40 Cr and is expected to do well on the box office.
Goodbye earned around 1.50 Cr on opening day. Keeping in mind the plot and screenplay we can predict the overall collection will be around 60 Cr.
Final Thoughts:
Despite its flaws, Goodbye accomplishes what it sets out to do. If you pay attention, it is also an art. If you’re able to ignore them as well, go ahead and experience the hurt of losing and the path to heart healing.
