The veteran actors Dharmendra and Naseeruddin Shah will return to the small screen this year with a historical period drama titled ‘Taj – Divided by Blood’. On Valentine’s day, the popular Indian OTT platform, Zee5, announced the show. This 10-episode-long series will drop on the streaming platform on March 3. The trailer for the first season is already out, and fans are getting way too excited. Here’s all we have gathered for you before you start binge-watching.
Taj – Divided by Blood – Plot:
Produced by Contiloe Digital, the trailer promises to take us to the era of the Mughal empire. Naseeruddin Shah will be seen as the great King Akbar and Dharmendra as Sheikh Salim Christi, and the story itself will tell a tale of the inner workings and succession drama. Unlike the classic cult romance “Mughal-E-Azam” (1960), Taj is going to be about war.
The series will dramatize the rise and fall of a great Indian dynasty and their hunger for more power which eventually led them to their demise. The succession drama of Akbar will be the main focus of its first season. Shah described “Taj” as “a story of war, succession and power set against the backdrop of the Mughal empire.”
Taj – Divided by Blood – Cast:
Directed by Ronald Scalpello and written by Simon Fantauzzo, the show creators have decided to bring the old and the new generation together. The casts are so overwhelming, starring Dharmendra as Sheikh Salim Christi, Naseeruddin as King Akbar, Aashim Gulati as Prince Salim, Aditi Rao Hydari as Anarkali, Shubham Kumar Mehra as Prince Daniyal, Taha Shah as Prince Murad, Zareena Wahab as Queen Salima, Sauraseni Maitra as Mehr un Nisa, Sandhya Mridul as Queen Jodha Bai, and Rahul Bose as Mirza Hakim.
The showrunner William Borthwick has also given a lot of effort for his role. Alongside the above-mentioned star cast, we will also get to see the other cast of the series, including Subodh Bhave, Deepraj Rana, Aayam Mehta, Padma Damodharan, Shivani Tanksale, Pankaj Saraswat, Zachary Coffin and Digambar Prasad.
