After running for more than a decade, the American post-apocalyptic horror television series – The Walking Dead has finally come to an end.
The show commenced on October 31, 2010, with its first season, and ended with Season 11 on November 20, 2022. The show was exclusively broadcast on cable channel AMC in the United States and was made available by Disney + and Fox Networks Group to international viewers. The 11th and final season of this zombie drama have been broken up into three sets of eight-hour-long episodes, and the first set was dropped last year in August 2021.
The finale episode ‘Rest in Peace’ of The Walking Dead had several interesting twists and turns, beginning with Rick Grimes waking up from his coma of 12 years. The actor exited the show four years back but was momentarily brought back for the finale.
The Walking Dead Finale Revealed
Pamela (Laila Robins), as we all know, was extremely corrupt and was ruling Commonwealth. However, in being excessively strict, she had made several enemies, all of who wanted to take her down. Daryl (Norman Reedus) gives an illuminating speech and tells Pamela directly that the problem was that she built the place like the old world.
He then opens the gates for the people still trapped outside. Pamela wants to be taken by the walkers, but she is arrested. In fact, Maggie shoots down a walker who wanted to take Pamela. The rest of the group then blows up the remaining walkers and saves the community. Young Judith, who was shot in the earlier episode, survived her gunshot, but Rosita, in attempt to save the children, was bitten during a walker fight. She has dinner with her friends before her mercy killing.
We see Rick and Michonne at the end of the show. Both of them are looking for their families and writing letters. Even though the makers revealed that the show had ended, this scene felt like they were setting the premise for a new spin-off. Even though their loved ones were lost, it was hopeful, and a scene that flashed forward to a year ahead showed Commonwealth was now run by Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Hilltop was flourishing. Daryl also reveals to Carol (Melissa McBride) that the outside world outside is much quieter and that zombies are less of a threat.
If you are missing zombies, then the makers already have three spin-offs for you to watch,
- The Fear of Walking Dead
- The Walking Dead: World Beyond
- Tales of the Walking Dead
