‘The Tenant’ is a movie about a strong cosmopolitan woman who is judged by the society for her way of living. The movie stars Shamita Shetty in the lead role. The actress returned to the silver screen after a gap of about 15 years. She was last seen in the 2007 movie ‘Cash’.
The movie has been theatrically released on February 10, 2023, and has already been received quite well in international film festivals. The actress, in one of the interviews, said that the movie is not just her comeback to Hindi films but also a story that actually reflects a “disturbing aspect a of the society”. Exit 5 Productions, Golden Creeper Pictures, and Mad Coolie Production were responsible for the production of this film. Besides Sushrit Jain, there are three directors named Sushrat Jain, Kanchan Kalra, and Daniel Walter
The makers are yet to reveal the OTT release date for this movie. However, speculations say that it is likely that the movie will be released on either Amazon Prime or Netflix in March.

Shamita Shetty plays the lead role of Meera, Rudhraksh (Rudy) Jaiswal will be seen playing the role of Bharat, Divya Jagdale plays the role of Bharat’s mother and Atul Shrivastava is playing the role of Bharat’s father. Swanand Kiekire and Sheeba Chaddha play the role of Mr. and Mrs. Mishra, Harsha Mayar plays Rocky, and Manish Anand plays the character of Ajay. The movie is inspired by an Italian movie released in 2000 – ‘Malena’ where the role of Malena was played by Monica Bellucci.
Plot of The Tenant
The movie is set in the suburbs of Mumbai. Meera, a modern and beautiful woman, causes much stir in society when she moves into this small society. She is quickly judged by the people of the society, men and women. A young 13-year-old boy Bharat also seems to have been intrigued by her. He befriends Meera and seems to have fallen in love with her. Meera has a past, and some people in the society have learned about it, including Bharat.
