Riverdale fans got their hearts broken after hearing the official announcement of the series’ end. The popular American thriller drama Riverdale premiered its first episode on January 26th, 2017, and since then, the series has gained a huge fan base and has 6 seasons. The CW has announced the series’ return with its 7th and final season. Just like any good show, one day has to end. Riverdale has also reached its conclusion and will wrap up the series in this final season.
Riverdale Season 7 Release Date
The makers of the series said to Variety on May 19 that the 7th season will be the final season of this series. The final season is expected to come in the next year, between January and May. The fans are having a hard time believing that their favourite show will end soon. Although many fans believe that it’s not the end of the series, information is kept under wraps for now. Here is what we know about the upcoming season so far.
Riverdale Season 7 Cast
So far, the plot of the upcoming season is still unknown. But we can expect almost anything given the history of plot twists in the series. But one thing is certain the old cast will be there for the finale. KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Mädchen Amick, Casey Cott, Charles Melton and Vanessa Morgan will return to the set. Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros will again produce the series and Aguirre-Sacasa is the director and executive producer, along with Berlanti Productions’ Greg Berlanti; Sarah Schechter, and Archie Comics publisher and CEO Jon Goldwater.
Is it the end for Riverdale?
Riverdale is based on Archie comics. Created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the show became an immediate hit when it was released back in 2017 on CW, along with its streaming run on Netflix. The first two seasons were no doubt amazing. However, since the last season, the show has taken a step back, with the viewership falling under half a million viewers. That’s why the broadcasters have decided to give the show a proper farewell. The CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz recently stated, “I’m a big believer in giving series that has long run an appropriate sendoff,”. He also added, “We want to make sure it goes out the right way.”
