Like its predecessor ‘Avatar’ released in 2009, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ has also been crushing the box office with incredible numbers. Director James Cameron sure knows how to make a brilliant movie that is to the likes of the viewers.
The movie has been received well by the audience and critics. James Cameron has already revealed about a third movie in the Avatar franchise. The maker said there would be several new characters in the third movie. In one of the movies, the producer of Avatar: The Way of Water’, Jon Landau, has revealed that Games of Thrones star Oona Chaplin has secured a role in Avatar 3. She will be playing the part of ‘Varang,’ the leader of Na’vi Fire Nation Tribe. Landau also said that the Fire/Ash Tribe in Avatar 3 would be the antagonists.
For more than a decade, James Cameron has been developing the sequel to the movie Avatar. The studio has already revealed that there will be four sequels to this movie – two have already been filmed, and the remaining two are awaiting how the public receives the first sequel.
In one of his interviews last year, Cameron revealed that the scenes for the first two sequels were shot back-to-back, as required for both movies. The schedules of sequels 2 and 3 were together because of the scenes and environment they required. Besides this being one of the reasons, the availability of the actors was also a reason. They also shot some scenes for the 4th sequel too, he added.
The sequel will feature many stars who are returning to their roles, including Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Lang, Matt Gerald, Dileep Rao, Joel David Moore, Sigourney Weaver, and CCH Pounder. More than the returning members in the sequel, there will be several newcomers, such as Kate Winslet, Brendan Cowell, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Oona Chaplin, David Thewlis, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, and CJ Jones. The script of the movie is yet to be disclosed by the makers.
