What is the meaning of Laylatul Qadr?
Also known as “The Night of Decree” or “The Night of Power”, Laylatul Qadr is the holiest day of Ramadan. It is called so because, during this night, Angel Jibril had revealed the first verse of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. This falls on the last 10 nights of Ramadan; however, the exact date is unknown. It is believed that worshiping Allah on these nights and chanting Quran is equal to worshipping Allah for thousands of years.
What is the significance of Laylatul Qadr?
When you do good deeds on Laylatul Qadr, your fasting is rewarded thousand times. A single act of kindness and helping the one in need increase Allah’s blessings on you, and all the past sins are forgiven.
Enchanting of holy Quran and dedicating the night to worshiping Allah and fulfilling the needy will increase your ‘Taqwa’ at this night. In addition to praying for family, all you do is pray for the helpless and unfortunate to get rewarded by Allah. Moreover, giving Zakat on this night is a significant way to help the needy and is the perfect night to make donations.
How do Muslims Celebrate Laylatul Qadr?
Muslims give up their sleep on Laylatul Qadr night, remember Allah, and do prayers, known as Qiyam. On this night, everyone forgets their fight and gathers together at the largest mosques and prays together.
Prophet Mohammad said, “Oh Allah, you are forgiving, and you love to forgive, so forgive me”. This night if anyone makes ‘Dua’ heartedly and cries to God to forgive their sins, Allah forgives them.
When is Ramadan Laylatul Qadr 2022?
Laylatul Qadr is during the final 10 days of Ramadan. For those who started the first night of Ramadan on April 1, Laylatul Qadr will fall on the night of Thursday, i.e., April 28, and for those who started Ramadan on the first night of April 2, it will fall on Friday, April 29.
