John Boyega puts a stop to his Star Wars franchise journey. The “Force Awakens” actor played Finn in the Star Wars sequels. However, the actor had enough of playing the role. Ever since he was introduced to the franchise, fans of the “Force” didn’t fully approve of a Black Stromtrooper. The actor soon started getting racist backlash. Even his story arc was so short and underwhelming. He never had it easy. 🙁
So it did not give a surprise to people when he announced that he would not be returning to the franchise. Boyega officially announced that he’s now done with Star Wars. The actor previously shared his experience while on Star Wars, about all the racist comments and how the studio reacted to that. He also opened up about his experiences with the cast members. And so the “breaking” actor has decided to stay Galaxy Far, Far Away from the Force.
Boyega says,
“I think Finn is at a good confirmation point where you can just enjoy him in other things, the games, the animation,”. “But I feel like ‘[Episode] VII’ to ‘[Episode] IX’ was good for me.”
“Moses Ingram being protected makes me feel protected.” Boyega comments on how Ewan McGregor helped Moses when she was getting racist attacks. “Do you understand what I’m saying? It makes me feel like, ‘Okay, cool.” He added.
The actor also says, “I am not the elephant in the room.’ Because when I started, it wasn’t really a conversation you could bring up…for me, [it] fulfills my time where I didn’t get the support.” “To be fair, [with] the allies that I’ve found within Joel Taylor and Jamie Foxx, Teyonah Parris, Viola Davis, all these people I’ve been working with… versatility is my path,” he added.
The actor also revealed how he got treated since he took the role. Not only that, it’s clear that Moses and Boyega were being treated completely differently. He never had any support neither from Disney and Lucasfilm nor from the cast members. Although he gained a lot of love from the Black community, it’s sad to see him leave the Force.
