Top 11 Halloween Movies Worst to Best Ranked

Halloween is around the corner, and we are already sieving through our list of Halloween special movies. We have for you the list of Top 11 Halloween movies for your bucket this year that you can watch with your friends and family and enjoy Halloween. Every movie listed below is good but keeping in mind a few points such as the scare factor, story, overall quality of the movie, along with a few others, we have rated these movies in ascending order – worst to best!

11. Halloween Kills (2021)

The movie is a sequel to movie Halloween released in 2018. David Gordon Green’s ‘Halloween Kills’ released this year is already topping the charts with the deathly kills of Michael Myers. However, when compared to the original Halloween of 2018, Kills has a poor plot and more of gore. But since the movie still revolves around the original theme, it has made its way to the list.

10. Halloween II (2009)

Halloween II was released in 2009 under the direction of Rob Zombie. The movie is a continuation of 2007 Halloween, where Laurie Strode, even after having shot Michael Myers, is dealing with the events that took place with her two years ago. There is a lot of ingenuity in the movie and parts that don’t work for the audience. However, certain elements like the ending and resolution to Laurie’s trauma are worth watching.

9. Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

Released in 2002, this movie was considered as an unnecessary sequel to the previous movie and barely earned in the box office. The story is about Laurie Strode killing a man who she mistook for the infamous murderer Michael Myers.

8. Halloween 6 Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

This Halloween franchise movie was released in 1995 and was helmed under Joe Chappelle. The plot is all about Michael Myers coming after the Strode family to kill all his surviving relatives. There were several flaws in the movie including the fact that Michael Myers was cursed and killed as a part of a nasty cult. The movie also reveals why Michael Myers is immortal. Donald Pleasance playing Michael Myers deserved a better role, especially since this was the last Halloween movie he acted in.

7. Halloween (2007)

This is a remake of the original 1978 Halloween where Michael Myers pursues Laurie Strode and her friends on the night of Halloween. It may not be quite possible to replace the original movie as the approach to dialogues was sort of shabby, but the story of a boy with personality disorders is in itself worth watching.

6. Halloween II (1981)

It is a sequel to the original Halloween movie and pick up the story right from where it ended. The movie was considered just about ok because the makers prioritized gore to story and suspense.

5. Halloween (2018)

This version of Halloween sees Michael Myers escaping as he was being transferred to a different facility to find and kill Laurie Strode, who is living a life with fear of Myers. Although it was a success, there was some humour that didn’t quite fit in with the horror elements of the movie.

4. Halloween 4: Return of Michael Myers (1988)

The movie is a sequel to Halloween II (Halloween III was all about witches) where Myers, who has been in a coma for the past ten years awakens, unleashing the killer instincts he goes after Laurie and his daughter Jamie. It lacks cynicism, but the originality of the movie makes it a great watch.

3. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)

This movie picks up the story from where it was left 20 years after the original Halloween of 1978. Michael goes after his sister Laurie who is now taken a different identity. But even after 20 years, she couldn’t escape from the wrath of her brother. The movie was criticized to be shot for television and failed to be immersive. Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie surpasses in her character to end her murderous brother. The story is good.

2. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

Unlike the other Halloween franchisee’s this movie doesn’t involve Michael Myers. The movie is about a man trying to resurrect an ancient ritual connected to witchcraft. It has a unique story and people enjoy watching it, even today!

1. Halloween (1978)

It all started from here. The original 1978 Halloween movie is what makes Halloween so special. It is in this movie that you learn about the psychic condition of Michael Myers and his murderous instincts. The movie tops the list because it contains all the essentials to keep the audience engaged – story, suspense, horror, scare and the right amount of gore.

What would be your choice of Halloween movie this year?
