Well, we all are fans of ghostly and haunted stories. No matter how much they scare us, we always crave to know some more. Even though we know some of us might get a minor heart attack, we never refrain from visiting the places that appear to be haunted. We all this small sort of adventure in us. So today we bring to you the top 10 most haunted places of the world. Ranking from 1 to 10, these places have a number of legends associated to them. Hence, the haunted place are as follows:

  1. Most Haunted Place: Changi Beach, Singapore

Beaches are supposed to be exotic, right? But this beach of Singapore is really haunted. It was the ground for Japanese during the Sook Ching battle of The Second World War. A number of Chinese people died in this war because they were doubted to be anti-Japanese. And even after so many years, people say that they hear the strange crying and screaming of the people.

  1. Ohio University, Athens, America

Ohio University is called as the most haunted college campus. Many people say that many places within the college campus are haunted and several tales are associated to them. As per the claims of The British Society for Physical Research, Athens, Ohio belongs to the list of one of the most haunted places of the world. The administrative building of this university is said to be the centre of the devil’s sign. A pentagram of five cemeteries surrounds this college campus. Many people claim that they have seen ghost in the catacombs of Jefferson Hall. The Ridges which is now abandoned was an asylum for the insane. A number of labotamies and electro shock treatments were done here. Hence, this may as well be the haunted places.

  1. Screaming Tunnel, Niagara Falls, Ontario

Various legends are associated with the screaming tunnels of Niagara Falls. This is one of the most famous haunted places. The tunnel links Niagara Falls to Toronto and New York City and is situated in Warner Road. As the local legend goes, if someone stands in the middle of the tunnel right at midnight and lights a flame, strange screaming of a girl will be heard and the light of match will immediately go off.

  1. Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan, India

Bhangarh Fort located between Jaipur and Alwar in Rajasthan, India is called to be the most haunted place in India. As per the legend, the palace was cursed by a black magic tantric, Singhia that every soul will remain trapped in it for centuries. They won’t have rebirth. Another interesting fact is that the houses around this area, has no roofs. Whenever a roofed house is built. Some way or the other, the roof of the house collapses. Visitors often claim to suffer from restlessness and anxiety. Another story associated with the place is that anyone who visits it after the dark, does not return from it. Hence, Government has prohibited anyone from staying in this place after sunset. The Archaeological Survey of India has also installed a board in this area, which reads “Staying after sunset is strictly prohibited in this area”.

  1. Highgate Cemetery, North London, England

Highgate Cemetery almost appears to be something out of the horror movies at night. It is the number one ghost spot in Britain. It has those haunting crooked gravestones, headless angles covered in ivy and dark passages between the tombs. Despite this strange atmosphere and location, Highgate Cemetery displays the best Gothic architecture of Britain and is also fascinated by the guiding tours. Karl Marx was buried in this place.

  1. Ancient Ram Inn, Gloucestershire, England

Yet another haunted place in England. Even if you do not believe in ghosts, visiting Ancient Ram can give you some uneven experience. It has the setting like that of a haunted place with creaky floorboard, cold bare walls and dimly lit nooks. It is said that this Inn was built over a pagan burial ground.

  1. Monte Cristo, New South Wales, Australia

Monte Cristo is one of the most haunted mansions situated in Junee, New South Wales. Mrs Crawley, the owner never returned to this house for 23 years after the sudden death of her husband. She visited the place only for two times. It is believed that her ghost haunts the place in her room. Several people claimed to have experienced unusual things. They say that they had seen floating apparitions, body-less ghosts, strange voices around the house. Some people even claim to turn purple and become breathless while entering the boy’s room. They would become normal, as soon as they came out.

  1. Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh, Scotland

This magnificent medieval palace is a must visit on the Scottish hills. Although, you may experience some ghostly activities within this castle. Echoes of the dead people can be heard on the empty streets of the castle. The prison of the castle, South Bridge vault, Mary’s King close are the most haunted corners around the castle. People claimed to have seen the ghosts of dogs, headless drummer and bodies of the prisoner of the seven year war of France and American War of Independence.

  1. Dominican Hill, Baguio City, Philippines

Many people believe that the ghosts of the soldiers who died during the war, haunt this place. People also say that the dead patients turned into ghosts. If you visit this place at night, you may hear sounds of banging doors, clattering dishes and unusual screaming.

  1. Berry Pomeroy Castle, Totness

Last but not the least, this 14th century castle has a number of eerie stories associated to it. It is mostly famous for the ghost of 2 ladies, The White lady and the Blue lady. People believe that white Lady is the ghost of Margaret Pomeroy. She was imprisoned and made to starve in the dungeons of the castle by her jealous sister. She appears in the dark dungeons and also goes from St Margaret’s Tower to the walls of the castle. Next, the blue lady guides people into the ruins of the castle. She is everywhere around the castle. Hence, if you follow The Blue Lady, your life may be at risk.
