So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) Season 17 – How to Audition, Premiere Date and Everything we Know

The wait is over! After a long hiatus for 2 years, “So you think you can dance” is renewed for Season 17, which last aired in Summer 2019. SYTYCD is not the only show that was presumed to be dead due to a pandemic, but the list is too long.

SYTYCD is a flagship series of the international television franchise that was created by American Idol producers “Simon Fuller” and “Nigel Lythgoe”. Produced by Dick Clark Productions and 19 Entertainment, the first season of the show was hosted by “Lauren Sanchez”. However, from the second season, the show was hosted by former British children’s television and game show personality “Cat Deeley”.

In June 2020, a FOX representative stated that the production of Season 17 of SYTYCD is not moving forward due to health and government restrictions after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ending all the anticipation and discussions going on social media and the audience whose awaiting the enthralling show, TV Line reports have confirmed its renewal on Wednesday.

When will SYTYCD Season 17 premiere?

Though no official announcement on date has been confirmed by the makers yet, it is anticipated to return this summer.

What are the eligibility criteria for participating in SYTYCD?

Anyone who thinks they can be the next favorite dancer of America can audition for the show. However, there are some eligibility criteria like:

  • Participants must have proof of United States Citizenship, and their age should be between 18 to 30.
  • Most importantly, the dancers must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

How to audition for SYTYCD?

For auditioning SYTYCD, it’s quite a simple procedure, first signup for the SYTYCD from the official website of FOX. Then, dancers will be asked to select the style of dance they wish to audition, and there is also an option to audition with a partner. Additionally, to complete the application, dancers must include a link to one recent solo dance in their chosen style.

Important Note:

  • Videos should not exceed 90 seconds.
  • As of now, they are only accepting YouTube and Vimeo links. No reels and multiple clips are accepted.

Selected contestants will be invited for an audition at the confirmed places (not declared by makers), and if they make a cut, they will be invited to perform for Lythgoe, Murphy, and Gibson.
