“Raksha Bandhan,” a Film Starring Bhumi Pednekar and Akshay Kumar: Release Date, Cast and More

After the release of historical drama ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, Akshay Kumar is back with a family drama and comedy movie, ‘Raksha Bandhan’. It is a production of Zee Studios, Cape of Good Films, and Colour Yellow Productions. The script of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ has been created at the hands of Kanika Dhillon and Himanshu Sharma. It was shot under the direction of Aanand L. Rai. 

Raksha Bandhan Movie Release Date

The movie was officially announced on August 3, 2020. Considering its title and the story of the movie, which is basically about a brother and sisters’ relationship, the makers have decided to release it on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, which is on August 11, 2022.

Story of Raksha Bandhan

The story revolves around Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar. Bhumi longs to marry Akshay, but he denies to tie the knot until he finds suitable matches for his four sisters. His sisters are light-hearted and goofy, because of which their marriages aren’t fixed quickly. However, Akshay Kumar is determined to marry them off before he can get married. The family-drama movie with a lot of comedy also comes with an interesting social message highlighting the evils of the dowry system in society.

Star Cast of Raksha Bandhan

Akshay Kumar will play the role of Lala Kedarnath, while Bhumi Pednekar will be playing Sapna, his love whom he wants to marry. The role of Akshay’s four sisters will be played by talented actresses – Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, and Smrithi Srikanth. Deepika Khanna has already acted in several dramas, including Patiala Babes, Gandii Baat, Who’s Your Daddy, and Yeh Crazy Dil. Sadia Khateeb has already made her debut in the movie Shikara, which was released in 2020. Both Sahejmeen Kaur and Smrithi Srikanth will be making their debut with this movie.
