Outlander is a famous historical fantasy that unfolds the story of how a happily married combat nurse from 1945 somehow travels back to 1743, where her life is in danger, and she is compelled to marry a Scottish warrior, Jamie Fraser.
Makers have already announced Season 7 of the series. In one of his interviews, the writer and producer of the show, Matthew B Roberts, revealed that the best thing about this show was that it allows us to revisit some of our favorite characters in various places and time zones. He also said that the show would introduce several new faces this season.
Outlander Season 7 Cast
One of the famous stars from Bridgerton, Chris Fulton, who plays Sir Philip Crane in the series, will play the role of Roger this season. A few more new faces in this series will be Gloria Obianyo playing Mercy Woodcock, a free Black woman navigating Colonial America, and Rod Hallett as Benedict Arnold, a Revolutionary soldier, turned traitor. Jamie’s sister will now be played by Kristin Atherton instead of Laura Donnelly.
Graham McTavish from the House of Dragons will be reprising the role of Dougal MacKenzie – although his character was killed in the second season of this show by Jamie Fraser. McTavish had also returned earlier in Season 5, where he enacted the role of his character’s illegitimate son with Geillis Duncan. However, the role of Buck will be played by Diarmaid Murtagh – we know him from Vikings.
Other returning characters for the series are Nell Hudson as Laoghaire Fraser, who plays the role of Jamie’s ex-wife and Marsali’s mother. Andrew Whipp as Brian Fraser, playing the role of Jamie’s father, and Steve Cree as Old Ian Murray. Layla Burns playing Joan MacKimmie, the step-daughter of Jamie and Marsali’s sister, will also reprise her role in the show.
Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, and the remaining core cast, including Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, Sophie Skelton as Brianna, and David Berry as Lord John Grey, will also return to the series. Most of the cast will return in their roles in Season 7 of Outlander.
Starz revealed that filming for Season 7 is scheduled to end soon and that fans can expect the series to be released either in late 2022 or early 2023.
