The Oscars for 2018 will be the 90th Academy Awards. Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science (AMPAS) will be presenting honouring it the best films of 2017 in various categories. The event will be held at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. It will occur at 5.00 PM PST on 4th March, 2018.
As usual the vent will be held on late February to avoid the conflict with Winter Olympics, 2018. The awards will be presented by AMPAS in 24 different categories. It will be aired on television on United States by ABC. Jennifer Todd and Michael De Luca will be producing it. Glenn Weiss is the director.
History of Oscars
Academy Awards are also known as Oscars. This award is basically is presented to honour the achievements of various films by AMPAS. The winners in various categories related to films receive a golden statuette’s copy known as “Academy Award of Merit”. The award now is known as Oscars.
George Stanley contributed towards sculpting the award. The awards were first presented in 1929 at Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The first ceremony was aired in 1930 on radio. It was first televised in 1953. Now, more than 200 countries can view it. Academy awards are the oldest awards ceremony all over the world.
The Emmy awards (television), Tony Awards (theatre) and Grammy Awards (Music and Recording) were all made up and modelled after the recognition of Academy Awards.
Oscars Awards 2017
Last year the 89th Academy Awards were held in 26 February 2017 which honoured the 2016 films. The event took place in Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California and was hosted by the very famous Jimmy Kimmel. As always, ABC broadcasted the event on television.
Till date, about 3048 Oscars have been awarded to the individuals for their contribution in movies.
AMPAS is a professional organization that honours the winners with The Oscars. Every year it maintains a membership of 5783 members who come together to recognize and vote for the hard work of the people related to the industry. Ever since 2013, AMPAS has started online voting for the Oscars.

Academy Awards 2018 Predictions
The 90th Academy Awards or Oscars 2018 will be hosted by the comedian Jimmy Kimmel. This will be the second time that he would be presenting this award. Last year, also Jimmy hosted the 89th Academy Awards. After Bill Crystal, Jimmy Kimmel is the first person to host ceremonies back to back consecutively. Billy Crystal had hosted in 1197 and then 1998.

The 9th Annual Governors Awards was held by Academy back in 11th November, 2017. The event took place at the Grand Ballroom of Hollywood and Highland Centre.
The voting for the awards will begin on February 20, 2017 and will be closed on 27th February, 2018.
Oscars 2018 Nominations
The nominees were announced on 23rd January, 2018 via livestream. It was announced at 5.22 am PST at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills. Actors Tiffany Haddish and Andy Serkis announced the nominees.
Well, it is of no wonder that The Shape of Water received 13 nominations. Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk left no option and stood second with about eight nominations.
