All of us have been aware of what magic, Disney has created in our childhood. Now, there’s more that Disney is bringing into the world. They are all set to bring back the charm of online video streaming service as a competition to Netflix, which will be named DisneyPlus. Recently, 21st Century Fox and Disney closed a $71 billion deal which made Disney the owner of Hotstar. Apart from that, it also owns much other entertainments and sports channel, Tata Sky and Star India. The deal was finalized on Wednesday morning.
Exclusive of Star, Disney is also the owner of 21st Century Fox’s Film Studios, including Fox Searchlight Pictures, Fox 2000 Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, Fox Animation and Fox Family. The TV Department of Fox also belongs to Disney now with FX Productions, Twentieth Century Fox Television, and Fox21. Apart from all these, Disney also owns Cox Networks Group International and National Geographic. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most expensive deals.
Bob Iger, CEO of Disney said, “This is an extraordinary and historic moment for us — one that will create significant long-term value for our company and our shareholders. Combining Disney’s and 21st Century Fox’s wealth of creative content and proven talent creates the pre-eminent global entertainment company, well positioned to lead in an incredibly dynamic and transformative era.”
Since the stakes of Star India is high in India, it will be in business around the country. Others to be maintaining their individuality include Murdoch’s Fox Corp, Fox News, and Fox Sports in the US.
