The Summer I turned pretty is a famous series that is primarily based on the first novel trilogy by Jenny Han. After the success of the 1st season of the series, the second season is all set to hit the screen. The second season is going to be a complete adoption of the novel. 

The second season of this romcom series wrapped filming back in November 2022, and according to the sources, the second season is coming soon on Amazon Prime Video. Here is all we could gather about the second season of this beachy romantic series.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Release Date

The release date of the 2nd season of this series is not officially confirmed yet. However, on April 21st, Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that the second season will hit the screen sometime during the summer of 2023. The season 1 was released in June 2022. 

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Cast

According to the sources, the central cast members are rejoining for season 2 as well. So, viewers will be able to see Lola Tung coming back as Isabel “Belly” Conklin. Also, 

Christopher Briney will return as Conrad Fisher, and Gavin Casalegno will be seen as Jeremiah Fisher. We will also see Sean Kaufman as Steven Conklin and Rain Spencer as Taylor. Jackie Chung will play the role of Laurel, Belly, and Steven’s mother. On the other hand, though

 Cam Cameron (David Iacono) doesn’t have any role in the second and third book, the character is returning on the screen. It can also be anticipated that we will be able to see the Fisher matriarch in season two via flashbacks.

Other season 1 cast members who are expected to be back are Alfredo Narciso as Cleveland Castillo, Colin Ferguson as John Conklin, and Tom Everett Scott as Adam Fisher.

Some new cast members have signed for the second season. Viewers will see “The Closer” star Kyra Sedgwick and “Eighth Grade”‘s Elsie Fisher as new characters in the series. However, nothing specific and official has been revealed about their characters yet. 

It is confirmed that Steven’s love interest, the character of Minnie Mills’s Shayla, is not returning for the second season, and the artist confirms it through an Instagram post.

The Plot of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2

The second season of the series is going to follow the incidents of the first. Like the 1st season, the 2nd season will also largely be true to Han’s book. In the first season, we have seen that directors have focused on some characters that had a minor presence in the book. The second season can also do the same. To know about the main theme of the second season, viewers can also go through the 2nd book of the series, “It’s Not Summer Without You. 

The first season ended with a passionate kiss between Belly and Conrad. However, Jeremiah is still unaware of that fact. In the second season, the story may focus on Belly, who now has to choose between two of her lifelong friends. 

On the other hand, if the second season follows the book, fans may need to watch Susannah, Conrad, and Jeremiah’s mother, dying from cancer which is going to be heartbreaking. This loss will fill Conrad with grief, and as a result, his relationship with Belly will crumble. However, though Belly may gain some clarity on the process, choosing between the boys will still be confusing for her. 

Now, the question remains, will the second season of the series follow the book properly, or will it twerk the plot a bit to keep it a bit unique? Time will tell.
