Star Wars & Disney+ Andor Season 2: Latest Updates, Plot, Speculated Release Date and More

Andor, an American science fiction television series is also referred to as Star Wars: Andor. It is currently available to watch on Disney+. This is a prequel to the movie Rogue One. The series is set in a period five years before the story of Rogue One took place. The show is about a group of individuals who were coming together under the Rebel Alliance to fight the Galactic Empire. It is during this same time that Cassian Andor, a famous thief, joins this rebellion. 

What is the Expected Release Date of Andor Season 2?

After the first release of Season 1 in September 2022, Andor Season 2 was expected to release in 2024. The filming of Season 2 Andor had begun in November 2022 – with just a couple of weeks left for the filming, things were going well.

However, the strikes of SAG-AFTRA and WAG made things impossible. Although the makers had promised that there would surely be a Season 2, the string of events made it look impossible. But considering the fact that the strikes have ended towards the end of the year in 2023, the filming will probably resume in the first quarter of this year – 2024. A probable date of release can be confirmed only once the filming is resumed.

Moreover, the delay of Andor season 2 was announced by Star Wars 2024 in December 2023. Lucasfilm press statement – Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, Tales of the Jedi season 2, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 are the only TV series of different galaxies to be released in 2024. It is this confirmation that helped me understand that Andor would probably not be released in 2024 as originally anticipated but rather in 2025 when production is finished.

The Plot of Andor Season 2

There have been a few clues and indications about the plot of Andor season 2. Andor season 2 will be shown into four chapters of three episodes each, each of which will represent a significant 12-month phase in the Rebel Alliance’s evolution, as revealed by showrunner Tony Gilroy.

As the program moves into 0BBY in the Star Wars timeline, it makes sense that the tale will feature Yavin 4, the jungle planet that was used as the Rebel Alliance’s base of operations in Rogue One and the first Star Wars film. Gilroy has also indicated that Cassian’s droid, K-2SO, will finally be introduced in Andor season 2. The story of the droid will also be revealed in this season.
