Netflix’s The Witcher is a fantasy drama based on a book of the same name. The series explores the adventure of Geralt of Rivia played by Henry Cavill. While viewers are still waiting for The Witcher Season 3, Netflix unexpectedly announced season 4 of The Witcher on 29th October. The streaming giant also made some shocking announcements regarding the casting of the show.
Henry Cavill is Leaving the Show and Liam Hemsworth is Taking Over as Geralt
Henry Cavill will no longer be wearing his long white wig. It was unexpected that Cavill would leave The Witcher after Season 3 because he has played Geralt of Rivia in the series since it debuted in 2019.
In his Instagram statement, Cavill didn’t specify why he would be leaving The Witcher, but he did say Liam Hemsworth would succeed him as Geralt in Season 4.
The Cast of The Witcher Season 4
As we mentioned earlier for The Witcher season 4, actor Liam Hemsworth will replace Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. And even though we will miss Henry, we are excited about Liam’s arrival. We will have to wait for more confirmation on the other cast members.
The Plot of The Witcher Season 4
Season 3 of The Witcher has not yet premiered on Netflix, making it difficult to predict what will be covered in season 4. The third book in the Witcher series by author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Time of Contempt, will be covered in season 3 of the Netflix series, so that gives us an idea.
Season 4 will probably adapt the following book, Baptism of Fire, assuming that Season 3 covered the third book. The Northern Kingdoms and Nilfgaard are at war in it. Milva of the Brokilon Forest, the dwarf Zoltan Chivay, and an old vampire named Regis are among the members of Geralt’s (now Liam Hemsworth) band. While Ciri (Freya Allan) joins a gang known as The Rats, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) assists in founding the Lodge of Sorceresses. We’ll have to wait and see if these things also happen in the Netflix series.
Release Date of Season 4
In the summer of 2023, The Witcher season 3 is scheduled for release. Season one was released in December 2019, and season two was released in December 2021. That led viewers to speculate that there might be a two-year break between seasons. But Season 3 will arrive in just a year and a half. So, let’s hope season 4 of The Witcher will be released by the end of 2024!
