After John Capenter made Halloween in 1978, there have been about 13 movies that have followed the Halloween franchise – each one had a different story. However, in 2018 David Gorden Green decided to follow the exact continuation of Capenter’s original Halloween and thus began the trilogy of Halloween reboot – none of the movies that followed after 1978’s original Halloween are related to this trilogy.
Green’s trilogy comprises of – Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills (2021) and Halloween Ends (2022). All the movies were released in the month of October of their respective years, during Halloween time. It was this trilogy that actually helped the audience understand the complete story.
Yes, Halloween Ends is the end of David Green’s trilogy, but it is surely not the end of Halloween franchise. While the original Michael and Laurie story ended with this movie, there may be new Halloween stories that makers may come up with.
Halloween Ends is a continuation of its previous two movies, where Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Allyson’s parents were killed by Michael earlier). Meanwhile, a young boy Corey from Haddonfield, accidentally kills a small boy whom he was babysitting. Though he is released, stating it was an accident, he is ignored and bullied by the town’s people. Corey and Allyson become friends and events lead to Corey coming face-to-face with Michael Myers and somehow taking in the darkness of Michael.
Corey kills many people and wants to kill Allyson too. Laurie warns Corey to stay away from her granddaughter, but amidst the struggle between them, Corey slits his throat himself, but Michael soon joins in and ends Corey’s life for good – reclaiming his mask. Laurie and Michael fight and with great struggle, she manages to kill him. To ensure that Michael doesn’t return, Allyson and Laurie throw Michael’s body in a grinder to ensure he is dead.
In the end, we see Allyson has left Haddonfield to stay independently and Laurie, too, has moved on and reconnected with Deputy Frank Hawkins.
James Jude Courtney plays the role of Michael Myers, Jamie Lee Curtis is Laurie Strode, Rohan Campbell is seen playing Corey Cunnigham, while Andi Matichak is Allyson Nelson.
Unfortunately, there were no credits once the movie ended. So, we can assume that the original Michael Myers is finally dead. However, there surely could be more Halloween movies in this franchise.
