Having received a myriad of praise for its performances, character development, visual effects, and writing, the famous fantasy drama ‘House of the Dragon’ has already completed its first season and gearing up to shoot the second season.
The story, which serves as the prelude to “Game of Thrones,” takes place 172 years before those events. The story begins with the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen. The plot soon takes various vicious turns, leading to the Targaryen civil war of succession, known as the Dance of the Dragons.
In one of his interviews, the Chief Content Office of HBO, Casey Bloys said that much like last time, they are only just beginning to put the plan together and there are many unknowns. He further added that they don’t suggest it will be ready on this date and then have to move it, so try not to be coy or mysterious.… don’t expect it in 2023.
A tweet from Dream of ASOIAF revealed that the Season 2 of House of the Dragon would begin filming anywhere between January and March 2023 and that Season 2 would be available only in 2024 spring or early summer.
While the makers are yet to reveal the cast of Season 2, we can expect several cast members to reprise their roles, including:
It is improbable that Milly Alcock, who played the role of young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Emily Carey who was seen in the character of young Lady Alicent Hightower, will be reprising their roles. If at all they do, it would be for very small roles for flashbacks as both the characters are now grown up.
Spoilers for House of the Dragon ahead!!
We already know how the fate of our beloved black Queen Rhaenyra will be, as Joffrey Baratheon had already spoiled it for us. She will meet her demise at the hands of her step-brother, Aegon Targaryen the Second. However, whether she will be able to take her revenge on the high tower or not is still unsolved. Recently, Martin showed some events and how they will be unveiled. He stated, “It was an imaginary history book. In Fire and Blood, it stated that Queen Emma Arryn dies in childbirth and the son dies. There is nothing about it being the most horrendous childbirth scene ever seen on TV.”
So far, the House of the Dragon season 2 will pick up from where the second 1 left off. Season 2 is heading into the first Targaryen civil war. With two claims on the iron throne, Queen Rhaenyra I Targaryen and the young King Aegon II Targaryen. Rhaenyra’s son Jacaerys Velaryon is currently on his way toward Winterfell to convince Lord Cregan Stark to support his mother.
Rhaenyra will take her revenge for her son’s death, a son for a son. The epic fight between Daemon and Aemond Targaryen is also on the way. And fans are always expecting more gory violence and deaths. Who will win by the end of season 2? To know that you have to wait just a little longer.
Since the second season is yet to begin its filming, it is unlikely that we will get to see a trailer soon.
