We just saw the Evil Dead Rise trailer on YouTube, and we are falling short of words for how good this horror movie is looking. If you can take blood sightings, horrific scary sounds, eerie dialogues and a haunted connection between a family, you should probably go and watch the red band trailer of Evil Dead Rise for sure!
This month is going to have a scary (pun-intended) run at the box office. A month that all the horror fans from across the globe had been waiting for. A month that is bringing back the horror cult classic Evil Dead franchise! This movie, unlike most movies these days is going to have a theatrical release. Today, we will take you through the Evil Dead Rise Cast, Evil Dead Rise Release Date and the Evil Dead Rise OTT Release Date. So, hop on.
The Evil Dead franchise has given some of the best cult classics in the horror genre. Sam Raimi directed the first film of the franchise, “The Evil Dead” which came in 1981. In this film, a group of friends visit a remote cabin in the woods and unwittingly unleash an ancient evil which takes them through a horrific journey of blood and bones. The ultimate horror combination.
While the movie was shot on a shoestring budget it was a critical and commercial success which led to the creation of the two sequels, “Evil Dead II” in 1987 and “Army of Darkness” in 1992, both of which continued the story of the lead, Ash Williams (played by Bruce Campbell). With over-the-top gore, dark humour, and camera work unique to the director, the films became an instant hit among the masses.
The Evil Dead franchise also includes comic books, video games, and a television series, “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” which premiered in 2015 and ran for three seasons.
The influence of the franchise can be seen in most films and shows in the genre, and after seeing the promising trailer, we are sure that the fifth film in the franchise, Evil Dead Rise is going to do the same!
As you have already learned that the previous films of the franchise focused on how a group of friends get into trouble and in no time horror wraps the group who were foolish enough to intone the magic words contained in the Necronomicon.
Well, this time the Evil Dead Rise story is a little different, it’s a family that will find itself with a Kandarian demon, aka a “Deadite,”.
The trailer shows how one of the two sisters, who is the mother to three little kids, Ellie gets possessed by the Deadite after she discovers a mysterious book in Ellie’s apartment building. More importantly, Deadite isn’t your everyday horror flick evil, it is a flesh-eating demon who will push the boundaries of the family’s survival with the most nightmarish version of everything imaginable.
We can see how this movie and the scenario it is placed in will raise the emotional stakes as high as they can go.
Sam Raimi, the OG director, Bruce Campbell, the OG star and Robert Tapert, the OG producer are collaborating again and producing Evil Dead Rise together. Stephen McKeon who has also composed music for The Black Mirror (Netflix) is composing the Evil Dead Rise music.
The leading actors in the Evil Dead Rise Cast are Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) playing the role of Ellie, the normal sister. Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock) will be seen as the possessed sister, Beth.
The movie also features Morgan Davies, (The Hunter) and. Gabrielle Echols (The Reminiscence), child actor Nell Fisher from Northspur, Mia Challis, Tai Wano, Jayden Daniels, and Billy Reynolds.
Evil Dead Rise is a theatrical release and will be hitting theatres nearby you in just two weeks, on the 21st of April 2023.
We really don’t think there is a speck of doubt about the Evil Dead Rise ratings. The red band trailer on YouTube is enough to show the movie is going to get ‘R’ rated in most countries. If there is a ‘UA’ certification, the movie is sure of going through the scissors and major scenes must have been removed.
While there is no official announcement about Evil Dead Rise OTT release dates or its online platform, if information from some sources is to be believed, Evil Dead Rise will come on OTT platforms by June 2023.
We, as fans of the genre, have pre-booked our tickets and we advise the same if you don’t want to miss out on the bloody (pun intended) fun. Not many movies like this can be seen in theatres these days after all.
