American baking reality show “Baking It” became so popular in a short period of time. The first season premiered on December 2, 2021, with 6 episodes. Season two of the Baking It is all set to premiere this year-end.
Baking It was created by Amy Poehler and Nicolle Yaron. It was produced by Poehler, Yaron, Rudolph, Pip Wells, Kate Arend, and Dave Becky.
“The Grannies, creative baking, silly songs about butter, cash prizes, BFFs, family, and did we forget to mention butter—this season has it all. Additionally, we’ll be co-hosting this season to add to the excitement!” said Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph.
Andy Samburg, a fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” actor who co-hosted the first season with Rudolph, is replaced by Amy Poehler. Yes, Maya Rudolph will reunite with her former Saturday Night Live castmate and friend Amy Poehler. The couple, who co-starred in Saturday Night Live and movies like Wine Country and Sisters, is hosting a reality show for the first time.
A spin-off to Poehler and Nick Offerman’s prior show “Making It”, Baking It follows eight teams of skilled home bakers as they compete in a culinary war to celebrate the holidays. Rudolph and Poehler will provide humorous commentary as contestants take on a variety of themed challenges that ask them to create the best savoury, sweet, and everything-in-between concoctions.
Once their creations are finished, the teams will display their desserts to a table of grandmothers, who are the ideal judges of the dessert. Season 2 invites a new cast of competitors to step up and try to win the cash prize.
Aside from the holiday special, the new season will have five episodes that are each an hour long. On December 12, 2022, a brand-new Baking It special will air on NBC, and the new season is scheduled to debut on the streaming service the following day. Rudolph and Poehler will invite some of their celebrity friends to compete in the kitchen in the special episode.
The program is made by Paper Kite Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment in collaboration with Universal Television Alternative Studio, a branch of Universal Studio Group. Executive producers include Poehler, Rudolph, Nicolle Yaron, Pip Wells, Kate Arend, and Dave Becky.
