Australian Idol 2023: Meet the Top 12 Contestants

The judges of the Australian Idol 2023 have funneled down the pool of 24 singers and brought it down to the Top 12. Judges Meghan Trainor, Amy Shark, Kyle Sandilands, and Harry Connick Jr. were tasked with the job of deciding who stays and who goes. However, the eliminations henceforth will be decided by the viewers. For now, here are the top 12 contestants that will battle to stay in the show and win the title of Australian Idol 2023.

1. Amali Dimond

She is a 16-year-old teenager from New South Wales who works in an ice cream shop. Australian Idol contestants Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy are her inspirations, and she feels that she was born to be an entertainer.

2. Angelina Curtis

Angelina is a school student who is just 15 years from Western Australia and an extremely talented piano player. She has been playing piano ever since she could climb up the piano stool and wrote her first song when she was just 9 years old.

3. Anya Hynninen

Singing is in 19-year-old Anya’s blood, as her mother taught her to sing and perform in folk clubs. Belonging to a small town in Victoria, Anya aspires to become a famous singer just like her stepdad Bernard whom she credits to have helped her take her music to a higher professional level.

4. Ben Sheehy

Ben is a 24-year from Queensland and is a guitar teacher. He reveals that he accidentally began singing when there was a requirement for a singer at his school. The judges are a fan of his unique vocals.

5. Harry Hayden

He is an 18-year-old from Victoria and says that he began singing to let out his emotions. He has a versatile style of singing and likes to explore multiple music forms.

6. Jasey Fox

A wonderful dancer from inner-city Sydney, Jasey is 25 years old and admires Freddie Mercury, Tom Jones, Snoop Dogg, and Billy Joel. He likes to take goods from all of them and incorporate it in his singing.

7. Josh Hannan

This 20-year-old from Victoria lives on a beautiful rose farm and studies physiology. Josh’s emotions reflected in his songs are inspired by various moments in his life. 

8. Maya Weiss

Maya is a 28-year-old who is from Victoria and has been watching Australian Idol ever since she was a kid and dreamt of being a part of it. However, even though she had reached her minimum age limit, the show was on a hiatus (14 years), and she was unable to apply. This was a last applicable year and the much talented singer has made it to the Top 12.

9. Noora H.

Noora is 27 years old, from New South Wales, and a powerful vocalist. She hopes to connect with people through her voice.

10. Phoebe Stewart

Despite her undergoing an eardrum graft and having hearing problems, 15-year-old Phoebe is headstrong in pursuing her dream to become a singer.

11. Royston Sagigi-Baira

Besides his passion for singing, 23-year-old Royston loves to do community work. He is from Far North Queensland and works with young people in indigenous communities.

12. Sash Seabourne

Bay and Bear, Matt Corby, Bruce Springsteen, and Fleetwood Mac are Sash’s inspirations. The 25-year-old from Western Australia is a surfer.
