Shark Tank India, a fantastic business-themed show, has recently risen to the top of the conversation. The show is a translation of the American reality television show Shark Tank for the Indian market.
Sony Entertainment Television’s first season of Shark Tank India featured aspiring entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to a panel of successful capitalists, or “sharks,” who offered financial backing and other resources in exchange for an equity stake in the company.
Seven self-made millionaires from various parts of India who established exceptional firms and held substantial stock holdings make up those sharks. Ashneer Grover, the co-founder of BharatPe, has quickly garnered prominence for a number of reasons, whereas other billionaires haven’t attracted much or any attention.
While many people developed an admiration for his knowledge, his on-screen humour sparked memes that quickly gained popularity on social media. Despite the majority of his news coverage being negative, the programme has swiftly made him a social media celebrity.
However, Ashneer Grover was absent when the show returned for a second season.
The CEO and co-founder of the CarDekho Group, Amit Jain, has apparently taken Ashneer Grover’s spot on the shark panel. Although his absence has alarmed some fans, he recently shared his opinions on it and the second season.
In a recent interview, he said he “ruled” the show while he was on it.
In a guest appearance on The Ranveer Show Podcast, Ashneer said that he built a Sony franchise worth Rs 10,000 crore and that he preferred to think of himself as a “builder” as opposed to someone who pays “rent.”
When asked if he intended to watch the show, he responded that he would not and that he had unfollowed all other sharks.
He said,
“Nahi. Mereko lagta hai separation clean hona chahiye. Jab main Shark Tank mein nahi bhi tha, season two mein, jitne bhi sharks they, unko maine social media se unfollow kar diya. Yaar ab woh tumhari game hai, tum khelo. Main kyu har roz dekhun ke Shark Tank ki shoot pe behind-the-scenes kya chal raha hai? Ab meri life ka part hi nahi hai, toh main kyu past mein rahun? Jab se clear hogaya tha ke main season two mein nahi hoon, maine baaki sharks ko unfollow kar diya tha.”
He added,
“Agar pehla season hi nahi chala, agli baari toh channel wale hi aapko slot nahi dene wale, bhool jao. Pehla chal gaya, ab aapka Rs 500 crore ka ad revenue har saal aa raha hai, aapka Rs 10,000 crore ka dhanda hai, aaj ki date mein. Woh bana ke de diya, usme mera nuksaan hua fayda hua koi matlab nahi hai.”
Anupam and Namita’s Reply
The second season of Shark Tank India debuted earlier this week. Many viewers have expressed on social media how much they miss Ashneer’s disruptive presence, but the show’s “sharks,” Anupam Mittal and Namita Thapar, have vowed that “toxicity” and “humiliation” would not be tolerated this time, in what seems to be a subtle jab at Ashneer.
