Cristin Milioti has been cast by HBO Max as the female lead for the DC Comics Original limited drama series, The Penguin (the title hasn’t yet been finalized). Colin Farrell, who featured in the Matt Reeves film, The Batman, which was released this year in March, will be playing the titular character in this series.
The story will be built around the world that Matt Reeves scripted and created for The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. The story is mainly about Oswald Cobblepot, more famously known as The Penguin in Gotham City. The Batman garnered commercial and critical success worldwide with credits given to the performances and direction of Reeves.
Milioti has been cast to play the character of Carmine Falcone’s daughter – Sofia Falcone. The former is a mob boss of Gotham and his daughter Sofia will be seen fighting Penguin for control over Gotham City.

Milioti was recently seen as the female lead in a dark comedy series that streams in Peacock – The Resort. The series is now awaiting a renewal decision for a second season. She had also been cast opposite Andy Samberg in Palm Springs, a time-loop comedy drama, for which she received critical acclaim. It was ‘How I Met Your Mother’ as Tracy McConnel, the mother of the show’s title, through which she got a big breakthrough. Milioti has won a Grammy Award for her work in Once on Broadway. She was nominated for a Tony Award as well.

The Penguin Release Date
The first two episodes of this series will be directed by Zobel. The writer of the show is LeFranc, who simultaneously serves as the showrunner for The Penguin. Earlier, Zobel was nominated for two Emmy Awards for his work behind the camera for the drama Mare of Easttown.
The production for the show is likely to begin next year in January in New York City. However, the release date for the show hasn’t yet been revealed officially.
